Brayden has started to smile and is begining to make cooing sounds. We don't have a good picture of the smiles yet. He has still been a real good baby. We had been getting 8-10 hour stretches at nite, but have slid back a bit to 4-6 lately. He likes to be held, Lauren preferred to be laid down a lot at this age. Lauren continues to amaze us. She knows most of the alphabet song and can count to 13. She also sings all the words to Jesus loves me, twinkle twinkle, You are my sunshine, row row your boat, 4 versus of Mary had a little lamb, and she says her bed time prayer all by herself. She also has to watch The Little Mermaid almost daily and anything at the store with Ariel on it, she wants it. She still likes to play outside a lot. Now it's sidewalk chalk and the pool. She can finally pedal her trike all by herself, she is very proud of that. We have great little kids. (It's our web site so I can talk them up as much as I want, right??) Enjoy the new pictures.

The kids are both doing well. Brayden appears to be growing a lot lately. His head control is much better and he has kind of started to smile some so that is exciting. He has relatively good nights of sleep followed by bad nights so we are patiently waiting for that to improve. This morning at 6:30 he was maing his sounds so Jackie we to get him and guess who was already sitting in the room talking to him...Big sister Lauren! She generally does not wake up from his crting. What else? Brayden enjoys tub baths (not sponge baths), they are very calming for him. Lauren is having a fun summer. She had lots of fun at the lake and was comfortable again in the pool after a short warming up period. Lots of trips to the park and not enough bike rides yet. We'll have to work on that. She has a baby she named JJ and she plays with him a lot. She treats him a lot like we are with Brayden so its very cute. Of course we had Bradyen's Baptism June 4th. All of our immediate family was here except for Ed's Jackie. It was a very nice weekend.

Some new pictures today. Looks like Brayden is going to be our second good baby, we are pushing our luck. He has been going to sleep around 9 pm and wakes somehwere between 2 and 3 then again around 6. During the day he eats every couple hours so he definately has his nights figured out. Every one keeps asking how Lauren is with him. She has been real good with him, likes to sing and say to him, "Its ok, buddy" and "calm down". She's a good big sister!

The new guy is almost 2 weeks old already. He has been doing great and Mom recovered faster for surgery this time around as well. Brayden has been a good baby so far. Generally he is easily comforted and doesn't cry much. We (mostly Mom) have had to get up quite a bit at night but he seems so go back to sleep after her eats which is a good thing. He even slept for 6 hours the other night but that appears to be a fluke. The diaper situation seems to be the biggest problem. No matter which ones we try, he still wets several outfits a day and several set of sheets at night. No fun! Lauren has been a great big sister. Lots of love and she never lets us forget about baby Brayden. Lauren and I went to the Wiggles concert in Council Bluffs when Brayden was 1 week old. She had a blast. If you are at our house, ask to see the video of her dancing. Enjoy the new pictures!

We welcomed Brayden into our family today. Everything has went great so far. He arrived at 0830 by C-section and weighed 8lb 8oz at 20.5 inches. Lauren was tiny by comparison at 7lb 3oz. Mom and baby both did great. We have all kinds of pictures including a bunch during the surgery. Anyway, this is just a quick update and a few pictures so everyone can see him. Lauren has been great today as well. She was very excited to see brother and had lots of fun and smiles when she held her baby brother. We also need suggestions for a new name for this website to be more inclusive. Post any ideas you have!

Lauren has been singing a lot lately. She was singing the song "I'm taking home my baby bumble bee, won't my momma be so proud of me..." They sing it at daycare and she was singing it good enough that we could tell what it was without knowing they were singing it. She intermixes twinkle twinkle, Jesus loves me, happy birthday and others while she wonders around the house playing and out on the deck while we are in the kitchen. She enjoyed hunting Easter eggs and waiting for the Easter bunny (but no pictures with him!) Thanks to Aunt Lorie, she got some new yellow shoes (croc look alikes) and she just loves those. She is into talking on the phone and going shopping with Mom. She surprised us today by telling Dr. Keri that she (the Dr.) is going to take out baby brother next week. She is even ready to yell out "go to sleep" when the baby wakes her in the middle of the night. She is such a heavy sleeper, nothing is going to wake her. We are amazed how much she has changed just since her 2nd birthday. She's in her own bed, completely potty trained, and talking a lot. She can count objects pretty much without error to 10 and she still lover her thumb!!!

We are getting ready for new baby brother! Only a few weeks to go now. Jackie has her repeat C-section (her doctor will not let her deliver vaginally) scheduled for Wed May 3rd. Lauren is excited and as ready as we are. We are thinking she is going to be a big helper. She likes to show people where her baby brother is, as well as talk to him. She is pretty excited. She also knows that Daddy is taking her to Omaha to see the Wiggles just a week after her brother show up. Lots of fun!

Some new pictures of Lauren playing in the snow. We received at least 17 inches of snow Sunday and Monday and Lauren loved it. She would be outside all the time if we let her. We went sledding today for the first time, Lauren had a lot of fun. We went down maybe 5 times and she went herself a few times. Thats a lot of work pulling her up the hill! It makes me even more excited about the first time we take her snow skiing when I have to carry her and both our skis and poles! Were planning on another sled outing tomorrow.

We haven't had wet underwear in more than a week now. She did wake up in the morning wet one time last week, but overall, she is doing great. She tells us when she needs to go potty and poop now. No more diapers, at least until May when baby brother is born. Lauren knows her brother is in Mom's tummy. She will talk to him and kiss him. She felt him move last week, it kind of surprised her. She knows the baby is going into her old room and she is now in her "new room". We've been going to the park and riding bikes lately, can't wait for summer.

Big news with Lauren this week. She has pretty much potty trained herself. For the last few weeks, she has been waking up dry and then going right to the toilet. She has been telling us she needs to potty and then going. She has gone several days without a wet diaper, and last night she told us she needed to poop and she did that to for the first time. So, we'll see how she does over the weekend, but with a little luck she will be in big girl underwear next week. Best part is, we didn't even have to do anything.

So what's new with Lauren these days? Lauren has moved into her big girl bed. She made a pretty easy transition and has been sleeping great in it. She does need rails though. Her new room is painted and basically done, just a few more decorations to put up. Her baby brother will be going into the nursery. No major work in there, just changing the pink curtains, bedding, etc to blue. We'll put pictures up when it's done. She has also been going potty on the toilet every morning. During the day, she still goes in the diapper, but she has been waking up dry and then going to the toilet. We probably won't push her until she is comfortable in the new room. That's about it for now.

Two sets of new pictures of Lauren are up. We put up a few more from the hospital but these are all happy pictures as she was getting better in them. The other set are just Lauren having fun. Lauren had her two year check. She is in the 25th% for weight and 75th% for height. Lauren has enjoyed talking on the phone and putting together puzzles. She has been counting objects up to 10. And of course, we can't forget, she still loves her Wiggles!

For those of you who are wondering, Lauren was in the hospital from Friday Dec 30th until Tuesday Jan 3rd. She presented with a fever of 102.7, saturations of 83-87 and respirations in the high 40's. After chest x-ray and numerous blood draws, she was diagnosed with RSV and peumonia, along with a subsequent ear infection. She was admitted for oxygen and breathing treatments along with IV and oral antibiotics. The IV antibiotics were stopped once the pneumonia was determined to be viral. Oral continued for the ear infection. Her fever broke Saturday evening and she really began to improve that night and Sunday. Monday morning (the 2nd) she was weaned off her oxygen but her pediatrician wanted to observe her through the night to be sure she could maintain her saturations. She was discharged around 9 am the next day. Thanks to all who were able to visit and call for updates, it meant a lot to us. Lauren was really excited to see visitors, towards the end when she wanted to leave, this really helped her out.

Christmas Pictures are up! We spent a few days in Columbus and a few in Omaha, with a quick trip to Norfolk to see Great Grandma Hansen. Lauren tended to get hung up on a toy and stop opening other gifts so we had to help her a bit. She also left cookies for santa, and told every one the next few days that santa ate the cookies. We didn't get any complete family pictures (of either family) which was kind of a bummer since the Harms family made it all the way from Nashville, maybe next time! Enjoy the pictures!

We spent New Years in the Hospital. Hopefully Lauren will get to come home tomorrow. She is getting a lot better but still requires a little oxygen. Once that has been off for 24 hours, she can come home. Christmas pictures will be coming soon.

Lauren had her 2 year pictures. For every one or two pictures taken, she was ready to move on. We had to reset each time, but they turned out very good. Some of her new sayings are very cute. When she falls or trips, she'll say "I dropped" and she likes Dora the Explore phrases like "Oh man" and "We did it". She also sings parts of twinkle twinkle and happy birthday. She is looking forward to Santa Claus coming and knows he brings toys. She is very interested him at stores, until we begin to approach and she instantly becomes scared. Needless to say, there will be no Santa picture this year. She has gotten back into airplanes lately. She will hear them in the house and run to the door and we have to go out and try to find it. She usually finds them first. Grandpa Kohtz is going to let her play in one of his next weekend.

Lauren has had quite the Birthday week. First on Thursday, most of Mom's family was here for Thanksgiving so we had an early birthday party. Then last Saturday, Grandma and Grandpa Kohtz came to visit with more gifts. We were suppose to have a party for her friends on Nov 28th (her birthday) but we had a bad blizzard so Lauren and Mom stayed in their pj's all day long! So we had her friends over today for even more cake, ice cream and presents. Lauren had lots of fun and did a great job opening presents and saying thank you! She even woke up one morning saying "my presents". Hopefully she can keep her hands off the gifts under the Christmas tree.

Here are a few more pictures from haloween. She had fun until someone would not take their scarry mask off when she went to their door. She started crying and we had to go home. Otherwise, she is still up to the same things. Lots of playing and reading lately. She is back to being very easy and cooperative with naps and bed. The last few months she'd hesitate for bed. Now we say time for bed and she litterally drops what she is doing and goes right to her room. Then she asks us to sing twinkle twinkle (she calls it twinkle), you are my sunshine (sunshine) Jesus loves the little children and Jesus loves me (both Jesus).

Lauren is excited about Halloween tomorrow. We took her to the hospital the other day for trick or treating and she loved it. She went into the rooms, said trick or treat, thank you, blew a kiss and said bye-bye as fast as she could grab the candy form the bag! She went with her friend Julia. I'm sure tomorrow there will be more pictures in her Genie costume Grandma Kohtz made. She also saw Aunt Haley and Aunt Susan last week. Lauren is now one month from being two, hard to believe! She is talking a lot more these last few weeks. She is starting to say fairly complete sentences. She has trouble with her "L's". For example, her name sounds like dauren.

It's been a month since the last new pictures. Craig fixed the spam problem. You now have to follow a simple command (something a program can't figure out) before you can leave a message. I suppose our biggest news is that Lauren will be a big sister around early May. That is very exciting news for us. We went to the pumpkin patch today. Lauren loved the hay rack ride and the really big slide. She fell once in the dirt and didn't like that. We had to get out the wipes and clean her shoes before we could go on!
