Here are the new pictures. Lots of cute pictures of Lauren this time. Also some pictures of Noah, Michael and Bryan during a visit to Grandma and Grandpa Kohtz's house. They had lots of fun together. Lauren is starting to put words together. She say's "thank you Mommy" (and Daddy)"more please" and other things. "Get it" also comes to mind for some reason, I can't imagine why! Generally speaking, she is able to tell us what she wants, which is very helpful. She can say most of the foods she likes (and wants) and what she wants to do. Things like park, bike ride, walk, play, and read books. In church, she likes to point out (and loudly say) Patty, Bruce, Jordyn and Austin (Kohtz's). Thats enough for this week. We already have some great pictures for the next posting so stay tuned!

We will have new pictures up soon. Craig tells me that this site has found its way onto a spam list. Odd messages are finding ther way into the Guest book at a rate of 3-4 a day. I delete them as soon as I see them but just ignore them if you see them first. Soon, you will see a security feature that asks you to type in an encrypted message, something that the spam program can not do, before you are able to leave a message. Check back soon for pictures!

Its been a bad few days for Lauren. Last week we told you she had a big scratch on her face. This week, she had what think was a spider bite on her ankle. She swelled up form her mid-calf to toes and the wound kept getting bigger for about 3 days before it started to look better. But that finally healed up nicely a few days ago. Then last night, as Mom was bringing her inside, she swatted a mosquitto away from under her left eye. The last pictures in this set show what she looked like this morning and it hasn't changed much throughout the day. The other pictures are with Joel and Jen, and their little girl Julia at the Minden antique airshow. Grandpa Kohtz flew his 1942 Stearman there for its first public appearance. Later that day Grandma and Grandpa Kohtz drove back to Kearney to spend more time with Lauren. Lots of fun! One last thing, for the last month or so, she has been saying potty and going to the toilet and wanting us to sit her on it. Generally nothing happens. Yesterday, she pee'd twice and pooped once on the toilet so hopefully she will be easy to potty train.

We went to Niobrara to see Grandma Loewe and cousin Reece. Lauren had lots of fun as usual. They played great together all weekend. Lauren saw goats, chickens, cats, dogs, donkeys, rabbits, ducks and even had a ride on horse buggy. We went to the Knox county fair, Lauren's second. She didn't have as much fun on the rides but liked the bouncing tents and the animals. Lauren jumped out her crib for the first time, it took a while for her to get back in. She collided with a boy at daycare and got a bad scrape on her face. Thats about it for now!

I went to the county fair this weekend and I surprised Mom and Dad because I loved going on rides. They didn't think I would be able to sit on a ride by myself, but I did it! I had a great time riding the merry-go-round, caterpillar train, and a four seater bug that I drove in perfect circles by myself! Next year I am going to go on more rides! My parents bought a Burley bike trailer for me, I initially was unsure about it, but now I like it! We have gone on a few bike rides, which is good exercise for Mom and Dad. Some of my new skills lately include: I can pretty much imitate a variety of animal sounds such as a cow, lion, sheep, frog, monkey, dog, cat, and snake. I think that covers quite a few of them. Everytime I see a plane I let Mom and Dad know that there is one in the sky. I hear that Pa-Pa(Grandpa Kohtz)flies planes, I hope that sometime he will be able to bring me for a ride. That would be fun!

Lauren has still been in the pool a lot this summer. She has been learning so much. Last night she identified red, yellow, and blue. She still enjoys her books, reading by herself and with us. She is generally a very happy little girl!

Kind of a hodge podge of new pictures, all from June. Lauren actually did quite a few things last month. We went to the Zoo and spent lots of time in pools. Lauren also played a lot with cousins and friends. I will get some July 4 pictures up real soon. She had a lot of fun with the pops and sparklers and enjoyed the fireworks.

This new set of pictures is Lauren playing in the rain! She had tons of fun and we had to drag her out after she was soaked to the core. She loves to go to the splash park just blocks from our house and really enjoys pools, especially at Aunt Dianne's house! But she is hesitant to get into the lake. She walked up to her waist once, but mostly she wanted to sit in her chair with her feet just touching. She probably spent more time playing in a big tub of water used to clean feet (Mommy of course cleaned it out first) then she did in the lake.

We spent a little time at the lake last weekend. It was a little too cold for Lauren to get in the water, but she enjoyed pouring water out of a bucket. Her favorite toys these days have been her toy phones and babies. She takes both most places we go. She has to wrap baby in her blanket! Lots of words, seems like more everyday.

We went to see Great Grandma Hansen on Mother's Day. Lauren loved being the center of attention. There are also a bunch of new pictures showing how Lauren likes to climb things and do things she know's she is not suppose to do. Her favorite toys are here two telephones, which she carries around the house and say hi and byebye into, and her babies. She likes to keep them wrapped in a blanket while she hugs and pats them on the back as she carries them around.

Lauren has been loving the nice weather this Spring. We spend a lot of time outside and at the park. She loves going down the slides. Some of the playground stuff scares her, until she see's another little one cross a wobbly bridge or an arched tunnel. Then she'll follow right through. We spent last weekend in Columbus. Grandma and Grandpa Kohtz are probably fed up with the Wiggles! Lauren loved being near the lake, which makes me happy. She was so close once, Grandpa had to catch her before she made a splash! Seems like new words all the time. She says bloon for balloon, shoes, cheese, please, hi, car, ball, book and more. She definately knows what the object words are but not so much what please means.

We were in Omaha for Easter this year. Lots of fun pictures with cousin Reece in their pretty Easter dresses. Laruen had fun hunting the eggs, she liked to put them into her basket. She only broke most of them! She found her Easter basket right away Sunday morning and went right to the Wiggles coloring book. Then Laruen and Reece pushed their babies around in the stroller. WE think she may be getting more teeth. She has been waking up at night some, which she has not done since she was 3 months old. She still loves her books and sitting at her table and chairs to read them. She is starting to identify a lot of objects and animals in several differnt books. She also has a whole bunch of body parts down.

Lauren had the flu last week for the first time. She pretty much slept and wanted to be held Monday and Tuesday and her appetite finally started to come back on Friday. Now we just need to get her back into her schedule, she wants to stay up later and take late naps. Today is also her 15 month birthday! Her checkup went great today, no more immunizations until kindergarten!! She is at 50% for height and 10% for weight at 20lbs 3oz, keeping in mind she didn't eat for 5 days. Whats she been doing lately? She loves books and she'll point to a few things when we ask her and she knows right where the crayons are when we ask if she wants to color. We also can't say cookie or snack or she'll go right to her chair.

Tuesday, February 15, 2005

Its been a while since our last update. There are some new pictures posted as well. Lauren has been a lot of fun for us lately. She walks all around the house and will usually end up playing in a corner somewhere. She has also been correctly pointing to pictures of people when we ask "where's Grandpa?" and others. She has also changed her bed time habits a little. Rather than going to her room for milk she now wants to play while she drinks then wants us to read a book. After the book, we can lay her down in her crib and she goes right to sleep. My favorite, this morning she yelled out "Daddy" very cheerfully and loud when she was ready to get up for the day. Mom thought that was very cute!

She has been walking a lot more lately. She'll now get back up and continue walking after falling where before she'd continue crawling. She knows what her socks, drink, book and several body parts are, and a few other things. You can see in the pictures she made a mess with her spaghetti.

Lauren is finally done traveling for a few weeks, she has been gone 5 weekends in a row! Lots of time in the car seat, she loves watching the wiggles in the van but we then sing wiggles songs for the next few days-not good! One of or trips was to Columbus, then to Norfolk, then to Niobrara, then to Butte for a 50th wedding anniversary for Jackie's Anut and Uncle. We had lunch with Great Grandma Hansen and a little play time with cousin Reece, they seem to have fun playing together. Lauren is ready for another haircut this week. Her sleeping also continues to amaze us. This week, after her cup of milk, she has been going into her room and standing by the crib or reaching for it when we hold her. We put her in, she looks at us, maybe smiles for a moment then rolls over and goes to sleep promplty at 8!

Two sets of new pictures are posted. One is the Kohtz extended family Christmas from January 2nd. Lots of little kids there! It took Lauren a little time to get use to all of them but she had a good time playing with everyone. Whats new with Lauren these days? She is taking some steps by herself, but then decides its faster to crawl. She is really stuck on saying "whats that?" and then pointing to things that are new or out of place in our house, followed quickly by a long "ooooo". She says Momma and Daddy, and we think she says dog and book. New stuff all the time!

Lots of new Christmas pictures to look at. Lauren had Christmas at Grandpa and Grandma Kohtz's house last week with Dad's family and at her house on Christmas with Mom's family. She had lots of fun opening all of her presents and seeing most all of her family. She even took her first four steps last night!

Finally some new pictures! I switched photo software and it took some time to figure it out! Lauren is now ONE year old. Time goes by so fast. She had a couple little birthday parties and her very own cake. She surprisingly didn't get to messy! Her Mom made her birthday hat in the first picture, she would only wear it for very short periods. She did enjoy opening the gifts a little bit when all the other kids wanted to open them up. She can say Mama, Dada, and dog (along with a bark) and she points at things and says what sounds like "whats that". She is also done with the bottle and doesn't seem to mind, as long as she has her thumb! Enjoy the pictures!
